The Next Generation of Compact AI Compute: Inside the ASUS NUC 16 Pro

AUSTIN, Texas, BELFAST, United Kingdom, and DUBLIN, Ireland — At CES 2026, ASUS announced the upcoming NUC 16 Pro, the next generation of its compact compute platform built to support demanding AI and edge workloads. Expected to be available later this quarter, the NUC 16 Pro introduces key upgrades over its predecessor NUC 15 Pro “Cyber Canyon”, including the new Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 “Panther Laker” processor family, offering an updated rugged, modular build with long-life availability and rich I/O in a 144 x 117 x 42mm (5x4in) chassis, including dual LAN Ethernet. Reinforcing ASUS’ ongoing commitment to high-performance, small-form-factor systems that enable secure edge AI development, machine learning, and advanced data analysis.

What’s New with the NUC 16 Pro

Compared to the NUC 15 Pro, the NUC 16 Pro is expected to bring improvements across several core areas, including:

  • Processing performance: The new Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 3 with up to the Ultra X9 388H processor, enabling higher performance-per-watt for AI-driven and data-intensive workloads
  • Graphics and AI acceleration: Integrated Intel® Arc™ graphics and up to 180 TOPS AI-Optimized to handle inference, computer vision, and analytics at the edge
  • Memory and storage: Expanded support for up to 96GB LPDDR5x 9600 MT, plus dual-fan cooling for sustained peak performance
  • Connectivity and I/O: Updated dual 2.5G LAN Ethernet, dual HDMI or DP, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth™  6.0, and modular I/O expansion lid to better integrate into enterprise and industrial environments

Overall, the NUC 16 Pro delivers up to a 50% boost in 3D graphics, up to 50% lower power consumption and up to a 20% improvement in overall system performance. Together, these enhancements position the NUC 16 Pro as a flexible compute foundation for organizations looking to deploy AI workloads outside the data center.
